Hanukkah

We are learning about the Jewish festival of lights 'Hanukkah' in Junior Infants this week.
We learned that it is celebrated over 8 days in November and December every year.
We watched a short video about a young boy celebrating Hanukkah. He lit candles on a menorah on each of the eight days and said blessings. He exchanged gifts with his family and loved playing with a toy called a dreidel!
We coloured some beautiful pictures of a menorah with 8 candles.
We can find out more about Hanukkah from this website:

Science Week

We recently celebrated Science Week in the school.

We had lots of fun with 6th Class who did some cool science experiments with us!

Hallowe'en

The 23rd of October was a scary day in D7ET as we were invaded by ghosts, witches, Darth Vaders, vampires, minions, princesses, ninja turtles, pumpkins and many other creatures...

We loved taking part in the school parade and we saw lots of very cool costumes from all the classes in the school.

We made some spooky Hallowe'en paintings with ghosts and haunted houses.

We also coloured and cut out pumpkins to match our pumpkin rhyme!

Maths Week

We had lots of fun maths activities in D7ET for Maths Week. The school worked hard at Mangahigh games and we made it into the top 20 of schools in Ireland!

We celebrated Maths Week in Junior Infants each day during the week with fun games and activities. We played some exciting maths games with 6th class pupils in the GP room.

We completed maths trails in groups with 5th class pupils. They were really good at helping us to find shapes and numbers in our classroom.

Some of us took some beautiful 'Maths Eyes' photographs which are displayed in the school.
